Wow..another teenage pop culture novel produced into a movie....that once again isn't awful?
Divergent is definitely not an amazing movie. Not even close. But however, it was not as bad as i thought it was going to be. I actually enjoyed it. While watching it, I thought this movie is kind of "cheesy" good but the premise is okay. Which made me think this books probably not that bad.
As the movie goes on, you can really tell the author of the book tried to grab the fans of the Harry Potter series, as well as the Hunger game fan club.
I don't want to say that the author "copied" the writing of J.K Rowling (Harry Potter) or Suzzane Collins (hunger games). But I feel that if those previous books were never written. That the author of Divergent would never have come up with the idea of this series on her own.
There are some things within the major plot that are very similar to that of the Harry Potter books as well as the Hunger game novels.
Anyways back to the movie.....I feel that I would probably go watch the sequel, which definitely tells me that I enjoyed this movie a little bit. As watching it, I wasn't dying to leave the movie theatre. I definitely laughed a few times at either a certain scene or the acting, because it was not a great movie. But it was very watchable....
I rate divergent a

Neighbours
Neighbours is the first comedy I watched in a while, as you could probably tell from my blogs. And I must tell you that I found it quite funny.
I'm not going to lie to you and tell you its the top of the comedy genre. Its not even the next Super Bad or Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
It falls short of Seth Rogans recent previous classics, however it still keeps you happy and entertained through out.
It is a little repetitive, however it takes a different approach at film making. Trying to appeal a little more to the new fad of rave music type fans. A lot of the scenes are filmed where the viewers feel like they are in a rave, which is definitely entertaining to watch.
I feel as if Neighbours is a better movie to watch and just enjoy then it is to just go laugh your pants off. Which is obviously what I love to look for in comedies anyways. A comedy with a good enough plot to not just be classified as stupidity.
There is not much that neighbours could of done different. I mean, it was not even close to perfect, but they only had a few limits that they could go too. It did not surpass my expectations or go below my expectations...It's one of the few movies Ive seen this year where it was exactly what i expected.
7/10
Neighbours is a funny film that keeps you entertained throughout. Isn't that what a comedy's supposed to do?
